Help with your flock, your zones and your hours

Stuck on a verdict that doesn't look right? Not sure why a zone is failing a condition? Start with the topic tiles and the common questions below — if that doesn't clear it up, the form at the bottom goes straight to the publisher.

Where to start

Building your flock

Adding birds in the bird editor, recording tameness and sound tolerance, reading the species guide, and removing birds from the Bird Flock screen.

Zones and pinning

Browsing the zone index, reading a zone detail — mesh, size range, temperature floor, perch heights, noise, weather and occupancy — and keeping favourites in Pinned Zones.

Visit conditions & verdicts

Understanding what your species requires, how a zone is scored against it, and which single condition caused a mismatch.

Hour Plan

Setting a schedule, booking visiting hours, seeing partner availability, reading the hour journal and reviewing the week in Hour Summary.

Perches, stops & rules

Configuring the perch profile and stop editor, and defining the handling rules that govern how your birds interact with each zone.

Reset & settings

Using the full data restore, clearing a setup and starting again, and finding what each toggle in Settings actually changes.

Common questions

A zone shows a mismatch — how do I find out why?

Open the zone from Visit Conditions and read the verdict breakdown. Each condition is listed separately: mesh size, minimum temperature, perch height, noise level, handling rules and occupancy. The failing line is the one to act on — either the zone genuinely doesn't suit that bird, or the requirement recorded for the bird needs correcting in the bird editor.

Why does the same zone pass for one bird and fail for another?

Verdicts are per-bird. A tame, noise-tolerant bird may clear a busy zone that a nervous one with a finer mesh requirement will not. Check each bird's traits in the bird editor and compare against the species guide entry.

Can I use Aviary Hour on two devices with my partner?

The app stores its data on the device where it is installed, so each of you keeps your own copy. Partner availability shown in Hour Plan is information entered on that device — the app does not synchronise between phones.

I did a full data reset. Can it be recovered?

No. The reset is permanent and nothing is held on a server, so the publisher has no copy to restore. The only exception is if your device's own backup (iCloud, Google, or a computer backup) predates the reset — restoring that backup is done through your operating system, not through the app.

The weather or occupancy for an hour looks wrong.

Hour Plan reflects the conditions recorded in the app for that time of day. Real conditions on the day can differ, so treat the hour view as planning guidance and confirm with the facility before you travel.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Use the form below or email directly. Please include:

  • Your device and OS version
  • The app version from Settings
  • The screen you were on (e.g. Zone Detail, Hour Summary)
  • What you expected versus what happened
Does the app collect any data about me?

No accounts, no analytics, no ads. Everything you enter stays on your device. The full picture is on the Privacy Policy page.
